About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Sr. Manager, Software Engineering to build and manage a team of talented software engineers that will work on Roku’s Advertising applications. Your first priority will be to build and grow the team in Manchester, partnering closely with advertising business stakeholders, product management and engineering teams to transform our operations using cutting‑edge web and agentic tools and technologies. As a key member of the Roku Ads Engineering Customer Interface team, you will hire and develop a team that designs, develops and operates components of our suite of customer‑facing web applications, including Campaign Management, Demand Side Platform, Data Management Platform, and Reporting and Forecasting toolsets.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Hiring quality software engineering professionals and building a high‑performance team to deliver Roku’s business objectives
  • Setting clear objectives for the team and individuals that are measurable and attainable
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to define goals, requirements and scope for Roku business initiatives
  • Providing technical guidance to the team and ensuring timely, informed decisions that remove project impediments
  • Ensuring delivery of high‑quality software deliverables with rigorous validation and verification testing cycles
  • Managing recruitment, onboarding and continuous training and improvement of engineering teams
  • Communicating project status, risks and outcomes to senior management, ensuring transparency and alignment with business objectives
  • Fostering an environment of continuous learning in the team, including active adoption of AI tools and technologies in software engineering

We’re Excited If You Have

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Extensive years of hands‑on software engineering experience with the past 5+ years leading and managing technology teams
  • Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle with proven ability to guide teams through design, architecture, development, testing and deployment (including Node, React, JavaScript, and AWS/GCP)
  • Proven capability to make technical trade‑offs based on changing business priorities and technical roadmaps
  • Proven record of implementing essential software engineering practices (code review, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, performance optimisation)
  • Demonstrated experience hiring, training, retaining and mentoring high‑performing engineering teams
  • History of successful stakeholder collaboration with product managers, designers and senior leadership to align technical deliverables with business objectives
