About the Team
This UI team spends most of its time working on customer-focused features that improve the user experience, from content discovery and search to Roku Pay, subscriptions, and much more. Our product roadmap helps us accelerate our growth and scale, putting surprising new features into the hands of tens of millions of Roku users worldwide.
About the Role
With a user base exceeding 85 million globally, our products are known for their seamless integration and intuitive design. We are looking for a Senior Web Full Stack Engineer to join our UI Engineering team. In this role, you will work across the full development lifecycle to design, build, and maintain scalable web applications that enhance the user experience. You will leverage modern JavaScript frameworks, including React & Node.js, to deliver high-quality solutions that delight our customers and drive business growth.
What you\’ll be doing
• Build responsive interfaces that seamlessly integrate with front end and backend, optimizing for performance across web, tv & streaming sticks.
• Implement intelligent caching strategies at both frontend and BFF layers to reduce latency and improve user experience
• Collaborate with backend teams to define optimal API contracts and data structures for web consumption
• Create reusable UI components and design systems that work consistently across web and device platforms
• Monitor and optimize application performance, including bundle sizes, load times, and runtime efficiency
• Leverage AI-powered development tools and automation to accelerate development cycles and improve code quality
We\’re excited if you have
• 5+ years of full-stack web development experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue.js, or Angular)
• Strong experience building and consuming services using Node.js, Python, or Go
• Proficiency in TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design principles
• Experience with microservices architecture, API gateway patterns, and RESTful/GraphQL APIs
• Strong understanding of frontend caching strategies, CDN optimization, and web performance best practices
• Knowledge of streaming media integration, video players, and content delivery for web platforms
• Experience with modern build tools, bundlers, and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks and data-driven UI/UX decision making
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) and automated testing frameworksPreferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in streaming media, OTT platforms, or entertainment technology
• Knowledge of recommendation systems UI/UX patterns and personalization interfaces
• Experience with Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) and cross-platform web technologies
• Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design principles
• Experience with state management libraries and real-time data synchronization
• Knowledge of web analytics, user behavior tracking, and performance monitoring tools
• Experience integrating AI/ML services for content personalization and user experience optimization
• Familiarity with automated code generation, intelligent refactoring tools, and AI-powered debugging solutions
