As a QA Automation Engineer within the New Product Introduction (NPI) team, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software ecosystem through code-driven testing. You will be responsible for developing and executing automated test suites that validate our Linux-based services and applications. Your primary focus will be the development of automated scripts using Python and BDD to increase test coverage and efficiency. Working within a modern engineering environment, you will utilize CI/CD tools and AI-driven utilities to support the delivery of high-quality software across the business.

What you will be doing:
- Automation Development: Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Python. Translate functional requirements and manual test cases into scalable BDD-style tests (using frameworks like Behave or Pytest-bdd) to ensure consistent software quality.
- System Validation: Perform technical validation of software components and Linux-based services. Debug system behaviour and review logs to ensure backend services meet performance and stability standards.
- CI/CD Integration: Execute and monitor automated test suites within Jenkins and Docker environments. Assist in maintaining the health of the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring that automated tests provide timely feedback to the development team.
- Collaborative Debugging: Work closely with developers to identify, reproduce, and resolve software defects. Participate in sprint ceremonies and provide technical insights into quality risks throughout the development lifecycle.
- Technical Defect Analysis: Manage the defect lifecycle in Jira. Perform root-cause analysis by examining Linux system logs and stack traces, providing developers with the detailed information needed to resolve issues quickly.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to automate repetitive manual tasks and improve existing test scripts. Stay updated on modern testing tools and AI-assisted technologies to enhance your daily workflow.
We are excited if you have:
- Python Proficiency: Strong experience in Python programming and a solid understanding of automation principles and BDD frameworks.
- Linux Fundamentals: Comfortable working in a Linux environment, including using the command line for log analysis and system monitoring.
- Testing Mindset: Proven experience in software testing, with a focus on API, distributed systems, or embedded software platforms.
- Standard Tooling: Proficiency with Jira, Git, and Jenkins. Experience with Docker and TestRail is highly desirable.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide clear, data-driven reports on software health.
- Effective Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with local and global engineering teams.
