About the team: We are a small, close-knit payroll team in the UK. The team actively cross-collaborates with our US counterparts, partnering closely with the USA on exciting improvement projects focused on enhancing payroll processes, automation, and operational efficiency. These initiatives provide a dynamic environment to help shape the future of our global payroll operations while driving meaningful improvements to the way we work.

About the role: The Sr. Payroll Specialist focusing on EMEA is responsible for executing and overseeing end-to-end payroll processes across EMEA, with primary responsibility for the UK, Denmark, Netherlands, Ukraine, Belgium, Germany, and New Zealand. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery while partnering closely with PBPs, Finance, external payroll vendors, and cross-functional teams.

The Senior Specialist resolves complex payroll issues, ensures data accuracy, supports audits, and drives continuous improvement across regional payroll operations. Experience supporting additional non-US payrolls in the Americas is a plus.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage monthly payroll cycles across EMEA.
  • Validate and reconcile payroll outputs, including taxation, statutory deductions, and benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with local legislation (i.e HMRC, Dutch tax authority, pensions, statutory reporting).
  • Maintain and audit employee payroll records, ensuring proper setup of tax codes, benefits, allowances, and deductions.
  • Partner with external payroll providers to review calculations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Administer statutory payments (e.g., SSP/SMP/SPP/SAP in the UK and local equivalents).
  • Support pension enrollment, statutory reporting, and compliance obligations.
  • Manage RTI submissions.

We are excited if you have:

  • 4–6 years of hands-on payroll experience, primarily across EMEA.
  • Deep knowledge of UK payroll legislation and strong familiarity with EMEA payroll.
  • Experience working with external payroll vendors and HRIS platforms (Workday preferred).
  • Proven ability to reconcile payroll data, identify discrepancies, and resolve independently.
  • Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated experience operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • CIPP or comparable European payroll certification (or working toward certification).
  • Experience with benefits-in-kind, equity/RSU taxation, and year-end reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivots, reconciliation tools).
  • Experience supporting internal/external audits and multi-country payroll cycles.
  • Exposure to Americas Non-US payrolls (nice to have, not required).

Our Hybrid Work Approach: Roku fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment where teams work in the office Monday through Thursday. Our comprehensive benefits include global access to mental health and financial wellness support and resources. Local benefits include statutory and voluntary benefits which may include healthcare (medical, dental, and vision), life, accident, disability, commuter, and retirement options (401(k)/pension). It is important to note that not every benefit is available in all locations or for every role. For details specific to your location, please consult with your recruiter.

Accommodations: Roku welcomes applicants of all backgrounds and provides reasonable accommodations and adjustments in accordance with applicable law. If you require reasonable accommodation at any point in the hiring process, please direct your inquiries.

The Roku Culture: Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humour. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less-talented teams. We are independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you will be part of a company that is changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn’t real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
