You will be the point of contact in the business for planning the manufacture of our products. You will liaise with cross-departmental stakeholders to understand the manufacturing needs, undertake materials planning and ensure that materials reach production on time. You will be responsible for work in progress, use of inventory, stock takes and issuing documents for the production team.

Primary Job Purpose

Drive the Manufacturing aspects of New Product Introduction, ensuring Design for Manufacturing and Assembly is applied and Products can be manufactured efficiently at scale. Lead Continuous Improvement teams to successful problem resolution using Lean and Six Sigma tools. Prioritise CI projects and provide regular communication updates and project status.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes to create efficient manufacturing and Production process, enhance productivity, reduce cost and improve lead times and quality.
  • Identify and escalate risk, issues and opportunities to improve processes and deliveries, liaising with project teams, leaders and sponsors as required.
  • Be a key contributor to Change Control Board decisions.
  • Act as gatekeeper for introduction of new parts and production information.
  • Responsible for BOM accuracy, maintenance, Work Instructions, Testing Procedures and Equipment Maintenance Support Production activities.
  • Identify and lead the coordination of Improvement projects throughout the Products Team and liaise with other teams like Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Delivery, Trade Compliance, etc.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement across Business Unit, working closely with all business stakeholders.
  • Support activities led by other department such as New Product Introduction, Production Management, Customer Support and Supply Chain initiatives.
  • Support Supply Chain Resilience and Subcontractor Process Improvement Initiatives.
  • Lead team of Manufacturing Engineers and develop talent.
  • Take responsibility for the maintenance of the manufacturing facilities, including safety, equipment, layouts, procedures, training programmes for new processes and equipment.

Person Specification:Education and Qualifications

Degree qualified preferably Green/Black Belt – Lean Six Sigma and advantage. Project Management qualification and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience leading a Manufacturing Engineering Team and developing manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Experience leading change management teams and projects.
  • Experience reviewing Engineering solutions for manufacturability in an electromechanical environment.
  • Building strong relationships across departments and collaborating with other teams to integrate Continuous Improvement initiatives into project plans.
  • Engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels with the ability to clearly communicate at all levels of seniority.
  • Monitoring and reporting on project progress.
  • Previous work experience within electro-mechanical low/medium volume assembly is an advantage.
  • Experience in Lean / Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement tools and techniques.
  • PFMEA and 8D process experience required.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues and resolving complex operational problems.
  • Experience in leading cross functional teams and collaboration across a business and in Line Management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
