The Delivery Manager role is a key delivery role, reporting to a Portfolio Manager within the Diffuse Account in the Global Services Delivery Unit (DU). The role is responsible for leading the successful delivery of projects or defined workstreams, ensuring that expectations are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.
As a Delivery Manager for a platforms team you will be working full-time on the client site, you will be responsible for establishing, planning, managing, delivering and controlling projects in line with client expectations and processes. You will lead project teams, coordinate internal and external stakeholders, and ensure delivery is aligned to agreed business objectives, customer requirements, contractual obligations and quality standards.
The role requires strong leadership, organisation and decision-making capability, with the ability to manage competing priorities, evaluate risk, and take appropriate corrective action to maintain delivery performance. You will achieve success by applying suitable delivery methods, tools and controls, while contributing to the development of delivery capability and supporting the growth of less experienced colleagues.
Enabling the business to:

- Build and maintain trusted relationships with customers, subcontractors, partners and internal business functions.
- Mobilise projects effectively and maintain delivery momentum through appropriate planning, governance and oversight.
- Identify, assess and manage risks, issues, dependencies and change in support of successful project delivery.
- Report and forecast accurately against milestones, budgets and key performance measures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in project delivery capability, governance and ways of working.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan, manage and deliver assigned projects or workstreams to agreed scope, schedule, cost, quality and governance requirements.
- Coordinate project teams, resources and workstreams, ensuring roles, priorities, dependencies and delivery objectives are clearly understood.
- Monitor progress against plans, managing risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, change control and corrective actions to maintain delivery performance.
- Maintain accurate project reporting, documentation, forecasts, dashboards and governance packs to support effective decision-making.
- Build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders, managing expectations and communicating clearly at all levels.
- Lead project meetings, reviews and governance forums, ensuring actions, decisions, blockers and escalations are clearly captured and progressed.
- Ensure project artefacts, deliverables and delivery activities comply with organisational standards and agreed ways of working.
- Support mobilisation and continuous improvement activity by contributing delivery input, lessons learned and project management expertise.
- Provide day-to-day direction, guidance and support to project teams and junior staff to sustain delivery momentum.
Education and Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent practical experience, in a relevant discipline such as project management, business, engineering, science or technology.
- Recognised project management qualification such as APM PFQ, PRINCE2 Foundation, AgilePM Foundation, or equivalent.
Desirable
- Practitioner-level project management qualification such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, AgilePM Practitioner, or equivalent.
- Membership of a recognised professional body such as APM, or evidence of continued professional development in project delivery.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Good working knowledge of project management principles, governance, lifecycle models, planning, budgeting, risk and issue management, change control, reporting and quality management.
- Experience of leading infrastructure and/or platform deliveries or defined workstreams, with accountability for delivery against time, cost, scope and quality targets.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to analyse information, establish priorities, manage competing demands and maintain delivery momentum.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor information to different audiences and provide clear, timely and accurate reporting.
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across project teams, business functions, customers, suppliers and partners.
- Ability to identify, assess and manage project risks, issues, dependencies and change, taking corrective action and escalating where appropriate.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster effective collaboration to achieve agreed project outcomes.
- Highly competent in Microsoft Office, JIRA and Confluence.
- Experience of working within a governed, quality-driven, highly technical or delivery-led environment, with an understanding of organisational standards and compliance expectations.
