Prototype Technician Services provide support to the engineering community with all aspects of the manufacture, modification and repair of prototype PCBs, cable forms and complex assemblies, including guidance on industry best practice.
Primary Job PurposeTo manufacture required prototypes in line project requirements, including working under magnification, i.e. microscopes and capable of soldering components down to 0201 size / BGA rework.
- Electro-Mechanical Assembly of Roke products
- Working to engineering drawings and schematics
- To provide technical support on PCB, cable & Product design, component selection, design for manufacture and development engineering
- To support Manufacturing related activities as required
- To manufacture the prototype design concepts in line with project requirements
- To provide specialist advice and ideas on new and emerging technologies to support prototype manufacture.
- To provide troubleshooting assistance to the engineering community.
- To work closely with the Engineers, Product and Project Managers.
- Cooperate in raising/improving appropriate internal documents including but not limited to Concessions, Test Reports and Work Instructions.
- Fault find and repair non-conforming products.
- Support the wider Production team as required.
- Always fully comply with Roke’s policies and procedures
- Undertake such other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job holder’s experience and qualifications, as may be required for the smooth operation of the business
- Technical Apprenticeship in Engineering or relevant subject
- Technical Degree in Engineering or relevant subject
A good overall understanding of electronic engineering principles in a development environment, to include:
- Used to working to IPC standards or higher
- Extensive knowledge of hand placement of surface mount technologies
- Cable forming and prototyping
- Modification and repair of PCBs
- Box Builds
- Ability to follow process
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Self-motivated
- Able to work under microscopes for extended periods of time
- Able to interpret engineering documentation and communicate effectively with the engineering community.
