Role Overview
As an AI/ML Engineer, you will be an experienced researcher or developer with a strong interest in state‑of‑the‑art AI and Machine Learning technologies. The AI/ML Engineer is responsible for delivering novel solutions to our customers’ challenging problems (technically complex or novel research), leading teams of engineers in delivering a mixture of small, early‑stage research projects and algorithmic components of larger, multi‑disciplinary development programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver novel AI/ML solutions to complex customer challenges.
- Lead teams of engineers across projects, from early‑stage research to integration into larger programmes.
- Provide hands‑on technical expertise across AI/ML disciplines, including computer vision, reinforcement learning, large language models and NLP.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Support business‑winning efforts, including early‑stage client interactions and technical bidding activities (defining solutions, estimating task breakdowns, authoring technical content).
Key Qualifications
- Proven experience in AI/ML R & D (computer vision, reinforcement learning, NLP, LLMs).
- Significant experience conceiving novel applications of AI/ML techniques, particularly adapting and applying academic research.
- Strong software engineering background, with experience working in and leading agile teams and delivering complex solutions at pace, using widely used tooling and development languages (including Python).

Location
Romsey site located within beautiful Hampshire countryside, close to the New Forest District and the south coast. The site is a manor house with ample parking, an on‑site gym, and outdoor areas.
Clearances
Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible to achieve SC clearance.
