Our client is a well-established, family-run logistics and transport business seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead its multi-site operation in the South West region. With over 60 years of trading history, the company operates a modern fleet of 100+ vehicles, employs c.160 staff and provides pallet network distribution, general haulage, and warehousing services.

The Role - this is a stable, well-run business - not a turnaround. The focus is on:

  • Strong operational leadership
  • Transport planning, service delivery and fleet utilisation
  • Warehouse performance and stock control
  • Compliance (O-Licence, driver hours, tachographs, H&S)
  • Leading established depot, transport and warehouse management teams
  • Protecting margin in a tight transport market

You will take full day-to-day operational ownership and report directly to the Managing Director.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven senior operational leadership in UK transport/logistics
  • Experience managing fleet and warehousing operations
  • Strong compliance knowledge
  • Commercially aware and margin-focused
  • Calm, credible and visible leader
  • Experience of operating in an SME / family-owned environment

This role would suit an experienced Operations Director, Head of Transport or General Manager ready for full operational accountability.
