Overview
Working as a Band 5 Staff Nurse in Outpatients you will be expected to ensure a high standard of patient care is delivered in an effective and efficient manner, reflecting the values and ethos of The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
As an autonomous practitioner you will be responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate, person-centred care and for assessing, planning and implementing the care needs of patients attending the outpatient department in conjunction with the wider multidisciplinary team.
As a staff nurse in outpatients, you will be supporting clinicians to manage patients through a variety of orthopaedic clinics so good communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities
- Undertake specialist nurse-led dressing clinics with the support of the multidisciplinary team providing wound care and the knowledge to promote wound healing, which will be underpinned by attending a wound care course/module at Birmingham City University.
- Support the patient pathway through the injection suite to ensure smooth admission and safe discharge.
- You may be in charge of the department in the absence of the Band 6 Sisters; the ability to use your own initiative and make sound clinical judgement is essential.
