This is an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic, innovative and friendly team dedicated to improving ward based clinical pharmacy services. We are looking for someone with experience and a passion in this area of work in hospital pharmacy. You must be an enthusiastic, motivated and a patient orientated pharmacy technician dedicated to patient safety. You will work with the medicines management team to help implement, deliver and continually improve the technical and clinical support to wards. You will need to have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will also need to be friendly, approachable, adaptable, flexible, willing to learn new skills and be committed to continuous professional development. You will be a pharmacy technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake medicines reconciliation and take drug histories to ensure patients receive the correct medications from the start of their hospital stay, promote appropriate use of Patient's Own Medication, and support one-stop dispensing.
- Help ensure TTOs are dispensed prior to discharge and communicate effectively with other healthcare colleagues when appropriate.
- Be an accredited checking technician (ACPT) with regular dispensing and checking slots in the dispensary.
- In liaison with the Lead Pharmacist for Medicines Management and other team members, participate in the management of medicines on the wards, audits and financial savings projects.
- Participate in late duty and weekend rotas.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Pharmacy technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Accredited Checking Technician (ACPT) status.
- Experience and enthusiasm for hospital pharmacy and medicines management.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Friendly, approachable, adaptable, flexible, willing to learn new skills and committed to continuous professional development.
