The Technical team at Rohan Designs is dedicated to creating high-performance clothing built for travel, adventure, and the outdoors. Our products are engineered to be durable, lightweight, packable, and versatile delivering reliable performance across diverse environments while maintaining exceptional comfort and fit.

Working closely with Buying, Merchandising, and Design, the Technical team plays a critical role in delivering garments that meet the needs of travellers and outdoor enthusiasts, with a strong focus on continuous improvement in quality, fit, and functionality, alongside responsible sourcing and long-lasting product design.

As a Garment Technologist, you will take ownership of designated product areas, ensuring the highest standards of fit, quality, and performance from development through to bulk production. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will play a key role in delivering commercially successful products that meet critical deadlines while upholding the brand's commitment to technical excellence, durability, and outdoor performance.

Key responsibilities
  • Take full ownership of assigned product categories, working independently while providing regular updates to the Technical Manager.
  • Manage the end-to-end process from initial prototype through to bulk production, ensuring products meet brand standards for fit, quality, performance and compliance.
  • Lead fit sessions, assess garments, and provide clear, detailed technical feedback to suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain accurate size specifications following design handover.
  • Review and refine blocks and grading, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct risk assessments, ensuring all products meet internal quality standards.
  • Oversee local source selections on fabric and trim, ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements across key markets.
Critical Path Management
  • Manage and track the full Critical Path from development through to production, ensuring all milestones are achieved on time.
  • Monitor key stages including sampling, testing, fitting, and sealing to ensure timely progression.
  • Identify and proactively resolve potential delays or risks to delivery timelines.
  • Ensure information is provided for Development and Progress tracking meetings.
Collaboration & Team Support
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers to improve garment fit, construction, and overall product quality.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, supporting onboarding and ongoing capability development.
  • Work cross-functionally with Buying, Merchandising, and Design teams to ensure alignment throughout the product lifecycle.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience and knowledge of working with UK and Off shore (retailers, Suppliers or Manufacturers) on Product Technical & Quality standards.
  • Strong outdoor and performance wear product technical knowledge gained in retail/manufacturing environment covering all areas from construction, fitting, sealing, production and supply chain management.
  • Strong knowledge of product testing both technical & legal standards.
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and objectively.
  • Effective problem solver and proactive.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Excel and comfortable with buying systems.
  • Willingness to travel for supplier visits and market research.
