Rohan is a leading outdoor company who loves creating high quality products. We have an exciting opportunity within our busy Product Team, based at our Head Office in Milton Keynes for a Junior Material Technologist looking to work across outdoor apparel and accessories.
The role involves supporting the Materials Team with the sourcing, development and production of fabrics, trims, labelling and packaging for Rohan, on time and in line with the agreed strategy for each product and category, ensuring maximised profit margins and adhering to Rohan brand and quality standards throughout. You will assist the Product team on handling the fabric, trims, components, artwork and packaging development from initial concept through to production. Additionally, you will assist the Materials and Product team in maintaining research and organisation of special projects, including sustainability and compliance.
You will work closely within the Product Team to ensure that expected quality standards are upheld from concept throughout production. Working to exceed the quality expectations of Rohan customers is the key goal of your role.
Key Objectives:
- Support the Product and Materials teams on developing and delivering market leading performance materials aligned to the seasonal briefs, utilising our brand five pillars of protective, lightweight, packable, easy-care and versatile, as appropriate and relevant to the range, category, style and end use.
- Support the seasonal work on multiple product types such as fabric, trims, labels and packaging as allocated each season.
- Support the Materials team with market research and insights around new innovation in fibres, yarn, materials, labels, packaging and finishes applied to materials in the range.
- Ensure own allocated work or projects meet Rohan’s performance attributes, testing requirements and sustainability requirements to support marketing claims (wicking, odour management, UPF, etc).
- Ensure own allocated materials are delivered to a high standard and on time and work with the Materials team to understand and achieve target costs.
- Support the team on inputting accurate material information on the Range Grid ensuring that information is updated and aligned with information in the BOM, Commercial sheets, testing results and latest sample.
- Support the team to maintain and collate material commercial and technical specification sheets for new and continuity developments capturing all key information.
- Ensure that all lab dips, trims, labels and packaging are tracked and approved as per seasonal calendar and maintain filing, archive and library of all materials.
- Think innovatively and proactively at all stages of the research and development process.
- Maintain knowledge and expertise in the latest technical developments in fibre, finishes, construction and market trends, and its application to the final products to continuously build advanced fabric expertise.
- Develop and maintain a clear understanding of the finished product to support the team on selecting the best fabric and finishing for the product and end-use.

- Educated to degree level or similar in Textile related field.
