As a Junior Designer, you'll support the Design Team in creating and developing stylish, functional, and high-quality outdoor, travel and casualwear products for women and accessories. You'll contribute to the design process from concept to final product, helping to deliver consumer-focused ranges that reflect current trends, brand values, and seasonal strategies. Your role is key in supporting the team to exceed the expectations of our female customers who value performance, comfort, and style.
This role does require some travel each year. The team travels together and individually to our suppliers in the Far East and to trade shows across Europe. Please do not apply if you are unable to travel abroad.
Responsibilities- Take ownership of design tasks from initial concept through to final product, ensuring alignment with brand aesthetics and market trends in womens outdoor, travel, casualwear and accessories categories.
- Design with a clear understanding of target cost prices, ensuring product concepts meet commercial requirements without compromising quality or brand integrity.
- Lead the creation of seasonal mood boards, colour palettes, and trend research, presenting ideas that support the wider design direction.
- Create accurate CAD drawings and maintain tech packs to ensure smooth sample development and production processes.
- Actively participate in fit sessions and design reviews, capturing feedback and updating documentation to reflect design decisions.
- Contribute to product engineering by proposing creative and cost-effective design solutions that balance performance, style, and margin targets.
- Proactively research innovations in fabrics, trims, and sustainable practices, identifying opportunities to enhance product functionality and appeal.
- Regularly review existing and in-development products to ensure they align with the Rohan customers needs, preferences, and expectations.
- Regularly research trends, competitor products, and consumer preferences in the womens travel and casualwear space.
- Share findings with the wider design and product teams to inform seasonal direction and product development.
- Explore new technologies, materials, and design approaches that could enhance product performance and appeal.
- Assist with organising samples, updating visual overviews, and maintaining design documentation.
- Support the team in preparing presentations and materials for internal meetings and range reviews.
- Ensure all style and colour information is accurately communicated across departments.
- Help manage timelines and deliverables in line with the seasonal calendar, flagging risks to deadlines.
- Continue building knowledge of garment construction, fit, and pattern-making through hands-on experience and mentorship.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Fashion Design, or a related field.
- 1-2+ years within a Womenswear Designer or Junior Designer role.
- Strong interest in womens travel and casualwear, with an eye for detail and a passion for functional fashion.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
- Good understanding of garment construction and fabric types.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment.
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive attitude.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK and internationally.
- Hands-on experience in the full design lifecycle.
