The Company
Our client is a well-established main contractor with a current annual turnover of approximately £50m, operating from multiple offices nationwide. The business has a clearly defined and ambitious growth plan to reach £100m turnover within the next five years. The Stevenage office is a key regional hub, having delivered £5m turnover last year, and continues to grow its presence across the South East. Approximately 75% of the workload is industrial refurbishment, with the remaining 25% across education, roofing, and commercial office fit-out projects.
The Role
Due to continued growth, the business is seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Manager to take responsibility for managing multiple projects across the South East region. You will oversee the delivery of projects ranging in value from £250k to £4m, with a particular focus on managing the larger, more complex schemes. This role will suit someone comfortable operating at a senior level, working closely with the commercial and operational teams to ensure successful project outcomes. There is a genuine and clearly defined opportunity for the right individual to progress into a Director-level position as the business continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple projects
- Managing site teams, Project Managers, and subcontractors
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to specification
- Overseeing programming, resourcing, and procurement strategies
- Working closely with the commercial team to manage costs, variations, and risk
- Maintaining strong client relationships and driving repeat business
- Ensuring compliance with all H&S, quality, and company procedures
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the operational team
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in a Senior Contracts Manager or Contracts Manager role within a main contractor environment
- Strong background in industrial refurbishment projects (essential)
- Experience delivering projects up to £4m in value
- Strong commercial awareness and contractual knowledge
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously
- Full UK driving licence
