An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established commercial interiors contractor specialising in hospitality and leisure fit-out projects across the UK. Working alongside experienced commercial professionals, you will support the delivery of projects from pre-construction through to final account, gaining exposure to all aspects of Quantity Surveying within a fast-paced fit-out environment. Projects range from small works schemes through to major fit-out and refurbishment projects valued at up to £3 million, offering excellent variety across pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels and leisure venues.
Joining an established contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality interior fit-out projects, you will work closely with the commercial and operational teams to support the commercial delivery of projects nationwide. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to further develop their commercial skills within a specialist fit-out contractor. You will gain hands-on experience across cost management, procurement, valuations, variations, reporting and final accounts while working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and senior management.
Key Responsibilities- Assisting with the commercial management of projects from inception through to final account
- Supporting the preparation of valuations, variations and applications for payment
- Assisting with cost reporting and financial forecasting
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Supporting procurement activities and subcontractor package management
- Assisting with measurement and take-offs where required
- Monitoring project costs and helping maintain commercial controls
- Supporting final account preparation and settlement
- Maintaining project records and commercial documentation
- Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
- Assisting the wider commercial team with day-to-day project requirements
- Previous experience within a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying role
- Experience within construction, fit-out, refurbishment or interiors sectors
- Understanding of valuations, variations and cost control principles
- Good commercial awareness and willingness to learn
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other standard software packages
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification, degree or equivalent experience beneficial but not essential
- Full UK driving licence
- £30,000 - £40,000 DOE
