If you're looking for the opportunity to build a long term career in construction procurement, this could be exactly what you're looking for. You might be a Graduate Buyer, Assistant Buyer or someone working in a builders merchant who wants to move into a buying role. Equally, you could already have some procurement experience within construction and be looking for a business that will invest in your development.

The most important thing is your attitude. You will be keen to learn, organised, confident communicating with people and ready to build a career within procurement.

You will ideally have some knowledge of the construction industry, whether that's through education, previous employment or working within a builders merchant or construction supplier. A degree isn't essential. Full training will be provided, so this role is open to someone at the start of their career who is eager to learn. Any experience within procurement, buying, construction, housebuilding, refurbishment or construction materials would be an advantage.

Working alongside an experienced Procurement Manager, you'll support the delivery of procurement activities across a range of construction projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • sourcing materials and plant
  • obtaining and comparing supplier quotations
  • assisting with supplier negotiations
  • raising and tracking purchase orders
  • coordinating deliveries to support project programmes

You'll build strong relationships with suppliers, monitor supplier performance and delivery schedules, support cost control activities and maintain accurate procurement records. You'll also review technical drawings and specifications to support material procurement, work closely with project, commercial and site teams to understand procurement requirements and help identify and manage supply chain risks. This is a hands on role where you'll receive full training while developing into a well rounded construction procurement professional.

The salary is £28,000 to £30,000, although there is flexibility for someone who can demonstrate additional relevant construction procurement experience.

You'll be joining a growing construction business that delivers projects across the residential and education sectors. Continued growth has created the need for additional support within the procurement team, giving you the opportunity to learn directly from an experienced Procurement Manager and develop your career in a business that is committed to investing in its people. This is an office based position, working five days a week, where you'll gain valuable exposure to all aspects of the procurement process.
