Electrical Project Manager in Nibley

Electrical Project Manager in Nibley

Nibley Full-Time 52500 £ / year On-site
R

About you If you are an experienced Electrical Project Manager who originally came through the tools as an electrician and have since moved into managing commercial fit out projects, this could be a really good opportunity for you. Ideally, you will be based in or around Bristol, with experience managing electrical installations within commercial fit out and refurbishment environments. You will be involved in much more than simply overseeing electricians on site. You will take responsibility for coordinating projects, reviewing electrical designs, preparing costs, ordering materials and making sure everything is progressing as it should. The role offers a good mixture of responsibilities, with approximately 35% focused on project management, 35% on design, costing and estimating, and the remaining 30% on procurement, ordering materials and supporting project delivery. The salary is £50,000 to £55,000 per annum, plus car allowance. Your experience Ideally, you will be a qualified electrician by trade who has progressed into Electrical Project Management, preferably working for a commercial fit out or refurbishment contractor. You will understand electrical installations from a practical perspective because you have previously carried out the work yourself. Since moving into management, you will have gained experience coordinating electricians and subcontractors, managing programmes, dealing with clients and making sure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget. Experience working on commercial fit out projects would be particularly relevant, especially if you have been involved in office refurbishments, commercial interiors or similar environments. You will also need to be comfortable with the technical and commercial side of electrical projects. That includes reviewing electrical drawings and specifications, understanding electrical loadings and power requirements, preparing estimates, obtaining subcontractor and supplier quotations and managing procurement. You do not need to be a full time Electrical Design Engineer, although you should have enough technical knowledge to review designs, identify issues and work with the design team to find practical solutions. A good understanding of BS 7671 electrical regulations and testing and commissioning requirements will also be important. Most importantly, you need to be someone who can take ownership of projects, communicate well with different teams and understand how the technical decisions you make affect programme and cost. What you will be doing with your experience You will take responsibility for the day to day management and technical coordination of electrical projects, ideally operating from a base in the Bristol region. Around 35% of your time will focus on project management. You will coordinate electricians and electrical subcontractors, manage labour requirements, monitor programmes and work closely with Project Managers to make sure installations are progressing properly. You will attend site meetings, deal with technical queries and help resolve any issues that could affect the delivery of a project. Another 35% of your role will involve electrical design, costing and estimating. You will attend initial site visits, review client requirements and work with the design team to establish practical and commercially sensible electrical solutions. You will review drawings and specifications, assess electrical loadings, prepare scopes of work and obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to build up accurate project costs. You will also work with CAD technicians where required, making sure electrical drawings reflect the project specifications and providing technical guidance to installation teams. The remaining 30% will focus on procurement, ordering materials and supporting projects through delivery. You will arrange the purchase of electrical equipment and materials, coordinate with suppliers and make sure the installation teams have what they need to keep projects moving. You will also monitor labour, material and plant costs, helping to make sure projects remain within budget and achieve their expected commercial performance. As projects approach completion, you will be involved in checking installations, reviewing testing and commissioning records and making sure the final drawings accurately reflect the completed work. This is a varied position where your experience as an electrician will be valuable, but you will also have the opportunity to use the project management and commercial skills you have developed since moving away from the tools. About the business You will be joining an established business delivering electrical engineering and installation projects for commercial clients. The business works with Design Managers, Project Managers, engineers and electrical subcontractors to deliver projects from the initial design and costing stages through to installation and completion. They are looking to strengthen their team with an Electrical Project Manager based in the Bristol region who understands commercial fit out and refurbishment work. The ideal person will have progressed from being an electrician into a project management role and be comfortable getting involved in the design, estimating and procurement side of the business. This could be a particularly good opportunity if you are currently working as an Electrical Project Manager or Electrical Contracts Manager for a commercial fit out contractor and want a role where you can remain technically involved rather than simply managing programmes and subcontractors. The salary is £50,000 to £55,000 per annum, plus car allowance. Next steps A CV isn't needed to start a conversation, so no matter what stage you're at in your job search, get in touch to discuss
