Assistant Quantity Surveyor Manchester (M24) | £30,000 - £40,000 DOE | Office Based with Site Visits We are working exclusively with a growing fit out and refurbishment contractor based in Manchester who are looking to strengthen their commercial team with the appointment of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. The company delivers a wide range of fit out and refurbishment projects across the North West and wider Northern region, working within the commercial, education and industrial sectors on projects typically ranging from £50k to £2.5m. This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor looking to kick-start their career or an Assistant Quantity Surveyor seeking greater exposure and responsibility within a growing business. The successful candidate will work closely with an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, gaining exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of projects from pre-construction through to final account. Key Responsibilities Assisting with the commercial management of fit out and refurbishment projects Supporting the preparation of cost plans, budgets and valuations Assisting with subcontractor procurement and package management Preparing and issuing subcontract orders Monitoring project costs and supporting cost reporting processes Assisting with the management and valuation of variations Supporting monthly applications for payment and subcontractor assessments Assisting with CVRs and commercial reporting Supporting final account negotiations and project close-out Liaising with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and operational teams Attending project and commercial review meetings Assisting with site visits and project progress reviewsCandidate Requirements Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management preferred Graduate Quantity Surveyors will be considered Ideally 1-2 years' experience within a Quantity Surveying or commercial role Experience working for a fit out, refurbishment, shopfitting, interiors or general building contractor would be advantageous Strong numerical and commercial awareness Good communication and organisational skills Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Eagerness to learn and develop within a commercial environment Full UK driving licence Contactable referencesThe Company Will Consider Graduate Quantity Surveyors Assistant Quantity Surveyors looking to progress Candidates from fit out and refurbishment contractors Shopfitting and interior fit out backgrounds General construction contractors Regional main contractors (non-Tier 1)Package & Benefits Salary £30,000 - £40,000 DOE Long-term opportunity within a growing business Exposure to a varied portfolio of projects Opportunity to work closely with senior management and directors Genuine career progression opportunities as the company continues to expand Supportive and collaborative working environment Secure pipeline of work across the North West
