About you If you are an experienced Electrical Project Manager who enjoys being involved in the technical and commercial side of projects as well as managing their delivery, this could be a really good opportunity for you. You will be working across projects throughout the South East, taking responsibility for everything from coordinating installation teams and managing day to day progress through to electrical design, estimating and procurement. This is not a role where you will simply hand a project over to the electricians and wait for it to be completed. You will be involved throughout, making sure the design is right, the costs are controlled, materials are available and the installation is progressing as it should. The role offers a good mixture of responsibilities, with approximately 35% focused on project management, 35% on design, costing and estimating, and the remaining 30% on procurement, ordering materials and supporting project delivery. The salary is £50,000 to £55,000 per annum, plus car allowance. Your experience You will need a strong electrical background with experience managing the delivery of electrical installation projects. Ideally, you will have worked as an Electrical Project Manager, Electrical Contracts Manager or in a similar role where you have been responsible for both the practical delivery and commercial aspects of projects. You should be comfortable managing electricians and electrical subcontractors, coordinating labour, monitoring progress and dealing with issues that arise during installation. You will also need a good understanding of electrical design, specifications and estimating. You do not need to spend all your time producing electrical drawings, although you should be technically confident enough to review designs, understand electrical loadings and power requirements, prepare scopes of work and identify practical solutions. Experience obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations, pricing electrical works, procuring materials and controlling project costs will be important. You will also need a good working knowledge of BS 7671 electrical regulations and the relevant testing and commissioning requirements. Most importantly, you need to be organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing several responsibilities at the same time. What you will be doing with your experience You will take responsibility for the day to day management and technical coordination of electrical projects across the South East. Around 35% of your time will be spent on project management, working closely with Project Managers, electricians and subcontractors to make sure installations are progressing properly. You will coordinate labour requirements, monitor programmes, attend site meetings and deal with technical or practical issues that could affect delivery. Another 35% of your role will focus on electrical design, costing and estimating. You will attend initial site visits, review client requirements and work with the design team to establish the most practical and cost effective electrical solutions. You will review drawings and specifications, calculate electrical loadings, prepare scopes of work and obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to build up accurate project costs. You will also work with CAD technicians to make sure drawings reflect the requirements of each project and provide technical guidance to installation teams when needed. The remaining 30% will involve procurement, ordering materials and supporting projects through delivery. You will arrange the purchase of electrical equipment and materials, coordinate with suppliers, manage subcontractor requirements and make sure everything needed for installation is available when required. Throughout the process, you will keep a close eye on labour, material and plant costs, making sure projects remain within budget. You will also be involved in checking completed installations, reviewing testing and commissioning records and ensuring the final drawings accurately reflect the work carried out. It is a varied role where you will have genuine involvement in how projects are priced, planned and delivered rather than being restricted to one part of the process. About the business You will be joining an established business delivering electrical engineering and installation projects for commercial clients. The role covers the South East of England and involves working closely with Design Managers, Project Managers, engineers and electrical subcontractors. They are looking for someone who understands electrical installations from both a technical and practical perspective and can take responsibility for keeping projects moving. This could be a particularly good opportunity if you are currently an Electrical Project Manager who enjoys getting involved in design and costing, or an experienced Electrical Engineer who has already taken on project management responsibilities and wants a broader role. You will have the opportunity to use your technical knowledge while remaining closely involved in the commercial and operational delivery of projects. The salary is £50,000 to £55,000 per annum, plus car allowance. Next steps A CV isn't needed to start a conversation, so no matter what stage you're at in your job search, get in touch to discuss
