About the Opportunity

We are working with a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor operating across infrastructure, utilities, substations and renewable energy projects. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Barnsley. This is a full-time, primarily office-based position with flexibility to work from home, offering the opportunity to play a key role in the commercial delivery of multiple projects within a supportive and forward-thinking business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial performance of multiple civils, utilities and infrastructure projects
  • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts and cost reporting
  • Administer subcontractor packages including procurement, payments and final accounts
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
  • Prepare and submit valuations, applications for payment and variations
  • Ensure accurate cost tracking across all stages of project delivery
  • Work closely with operational teams to drive commercial performance
  • Maintain strong client relationships and attend commercial meetings
  • Support final account negotiations and dispute resolution where required

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civils, utilities, groundworks or infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (or similar)
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial management skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation ability
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar (or equivalent experience)
  • Full UK driving licence
