Read this if you’re an HR generalist who loves variety, enjoys building relationships, and wants to work closely with a range of businesses rather than sitting in the same internal role every day. Maybe you’re currently an HR Advisor, HR Officer or People Partner in a smaller business where you’ve had exposure to lots of different areas of HR – employee relations, onboarding, contracts, training, performance, projects, policies, employment law, recruitment or culture work – and you’re ready for something more dynamic.

You’re confident speaking to people at all levels, comfortable making recommendations, and you bring ideas rather than waiting to be told what to do. You’re creative, credible, proactive, and you genuinely enjoy helping businesses and people thrive. If you like autonomy, collaboration, and being part of a friendly team that genuinely supports each other, you’ll probably love this role.

About Roeks Avenue

Roeks Avenue is a modern HR consultancy supporting businesses across a wide range of sectors with practical, people-focused HR support. We’re a small, collaborative team who care deeply about the work we do and the relationships we build with our clients. No corporate layers. No stuffy hierarchy. Just good people doing great work together. We work closely as a team, support each other constantly, and genuinely enjoy what we do. While we’re remote-first, we still make time for regular team sessions, collaboration days and the occasional catch-up together.

Why this HR Consultant role exists

Our client base is growing quickly, and we’re looking for another brilliant HR professional to join the team and become a trusted extension of the businesses we support. This role is all about building relationships, giving practical HR advice, supporting managers with confidence, and helping clients navigate the day-to-day people challenges that come with growing a business. We need someone who can think commercially, communicate confidently, and bring fresh ideas to the table.

What you’ll be doing

Supporting a portfolio of clients. You’ll work closely with a range of businesses across different sectors, becoming a trusted point of contact for their HR support. This could include:

  • Employee relations support including disciplinaries, grievances, absence and performance
  • Drafting contracts, letters, policies and HR documentation
  • Supporting onboarding and recruitment activity
  • Advising managers on employment law and best practice
  • Helping businesses improve processes, people practices and culture
  • Delivering practical, commercially-focused HR advice
  • Supporting HR projects and people initiatives

A varied and hands-on role

This is a role for someone who enjoys variety and is happy flexing between advisory work, HR projects, and hands-on administration when needed. One day might involve supporting a complex ER case, another helping improve an internal process or policy, and another ensuring client documentation and admin is completed to a high standard. We’re a small team, so collaboration and rolling your sleeves up is a huge part of our culture.

Building strong client relationships

We want our clients to feel like we’re part of their team – approachable, supportive and trusted. You’ll build strong working relationships, communicate confidently, and feel comfortable making recommendations and influencing decision-making.

Bringing ideas and creativity

We love people who think differently and bring fresh ideas. Whether it’s improving a process, helping shape internal projects, contributing to content ideas or finding better ways of supporting clients, we want someone who enjoys getting involved.

Being invested in the growth of the business

This isn’t a sales role – but we do want someone who genuinely cares about the growth and success of Roeks Avenue. You’ll naturally spot opportunities to support clients further, advocate for the business, contribute ideas, and be invested in the wider success of our offering. Whether that’s sharing ideas for content, supporting networking opportunities, identifying where a client may benefit from additional support, or simply speaking positively about what we do, we want someone who feels proud to be part of the journey.

What we’re looking for

We care far more about attitude, personality and exposure than job titles. You might be perfect for this role if you:

  • Have solid HR generalist experience across multiple areas of HR
  • Have worked in a fast-paced or small-team environment
  • Are confident handling conversations with managers and employees
  • Can build trust, influence people naturally, and confidently make recommendations
  • Are proactive, creative, and solutions-focused
  • Have strong employment law knowledge and practical HR understanding
  • Enjoy variety and managing different priorities
  • Bring energy, personality and credibility
  • Love working collaboratively as part of a close-knit team

What you’ll get

  • £35,000 – £40,000 salary
  • Unlimited holiday
  • Fully remote working with occasional team meet-ups
  • 35-hour working week
  • A genuinely supportive and collaborative team
  • Huge variety and exposure across different sectors and businesses
  • Opportunity to grow with a modern, ambitious consultancy
