Are you an experienced Key Account Manager with a background in Food Manufacturing or FMCG?

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturer supplying innovative ingredient solutions to the UK food manufacturing sector.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused Key Account Manager who enjoys developing strategic customer relationships, driving business growth and working collaboratively across multiple departments.

You'll manage a portfolio of key customer accounts, identify new business opportunities and work closely with technical, NPD and operational teams to deliver outstanding customer solutions.

This is a field-based, permanent position, with approximately 2 days per week office based and regular travel to customer sites across the UK.

The Role

As Key Account Manager, you'll be responsible for developing and managing strategic customer relationships while delivering profitable sales growth across a portfolio of key accounts.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Managing and developing a portfolio of strategic key accounts within the food manufacturing sector.
  • Delivering annual sales, revenue and margin targets.
  • Developing and implementing strategic account plans to maximise growth opportunities.
  • Building long-term relationships with purchasing, commercial, technical and NPD teams.
  • Identifying new business opportunities within existing and prospective customers.
  • Conducting regular customer visits, presentations and business reviews.
  • Working closely with Technical, NPD, Operations, Customer Service, Marketing and Finance teams to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Negotiating pricing, commercial agreements and contracts.
  • Monitoring market trends, competitor activity and customer developments.
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records, forecasts and sales pipeline reporting.
  • Driving customer satisfaction through proactive communication and problem-solving.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Key Account Manager, National Account Manager, Account Manager or Business Development Manager with a strong commercial background within Food Manufacturing or FMCG.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience as a Key Account Manager, National Account Manager or similar B2B sales role.
  • Experience within Food Manufacturing, Food Ingredients or FMCG.
  • Experience managing strategic customer accounts and delivering sales growth.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with customers at all levels.
  • Ability to develop strategic account plans and identify new business opportunities.
  • Experience using CRM systems (Salesforce or similar).
  • Strong analytical and forecasting skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Technical understanding of food manufacturing processes and ingredient functionality.
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing standards including BRC and HACCP.
  • Project management or continuous improvement experience.
  • Professional sales or account management qualifications.
