As a Management Accountant, you will provide accounting support within the Finance team, to ensure key financial close and day-to-day activities are complete in a robust and timely manner. This role is key in the business and is required to provide insight into business performance for allocated areas, with a large focus on costs. The role reports directly to the Senior Management Accountant.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assist in preparing monthly P&Ls for the business.
- Ensure all costs are posted to the finance system in a timely manner and reconciled back to supporting documents.
- Prepare a monthly variance analysis against budget.
- Offer guidance and support to improve working practices aimed at strengthening the quality of data within P&L's.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
- Work with the rest of the management accounts team to ensure P&L information is collated and reviewed in a timely manner.
- Work alongside the Accounts Payable team to ensure that coding is correct at source.
- Ensure Business rates are fully paid and claimed from the NHS.
- Responsible for Rent & Service Charge invoices, ensuring all records are maintained and up to date.
- Responsible for accruals and prepayments.
- Work alongside the revenue accountant to ensure associate pay is in line with income and provide commentary where necessary.
- Work with the rest of the business and team to review and improve processes to gain efficiencies where possible.
- Ad-hoc tasks where necessary to ensure monthly P&Ls are accurate.
Who we’re looking for:
- Qualified accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA.
- Experience (either in practice or industry) of acquisition accounting.
- High attention to detail.
- Highly driven and self-motivated.
- Used to working in a cross-functional environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both to financial and non-financial audiences.
- An effective communicator both in writing and face to face.
- Confident and organised in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Good Microsoft knowledge, especially Excel.
