The Opportunity
RVS is currently seeking applications for a continuing, part-time (25 hrs/week) Caretaker I position to provide routine cleaning duties at Cooper's Crossing School starting July 1, 2026. Monday to Friday after school hours with the exception of 1-2 day shifts per month (as per School Year Calendar). Cooper's Crossing School is located in the City of Airdrie and is home to students from Pre-K and Grades K-5. Under the supervision of the Head Building Operator and Building Operator, the Caretaker I provides caretaking services at their assigned RVS facilities. The Caretaker I is responsible for the housekeeping of school buildings, maintaining contents and furnishings in good appearance and in clean, tidy, sanitary condition, as assigned by their supervisor.
Responsibilities Include:
- Attention to detail related to varied and complex cleaning tasks
- Ability to work independently and perform assigned tasks within a team environment
- Demonstrated pride in workmanship
- Keeps assigned sidewalks, steps, and entrances free from ice and snow
- Performs building security checks as scheduled by the Head Building Operator
- Experience working in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety, WHMIS and other relevant legislation
Education/Experience:
- Previous cleaning experience is considered an asset
- Certifications from cleaning organization is considered an asset
- Previous experience within a school division is considered an asset
- An equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered
Knowledge/Skills:
- Basic knowledge of proper cleaning procedures
- Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
