About Rocky Mountain Prep

We are Rocky Mountain Prep, a movement comprised of incredible educators, families, scholars, and advocates who are changing the face of public education in Colorado by democratizing college access and preparation for historically marginalized students and families. On paper, we are a network of twelve college preparatory charter schools in the Denver metro area serving students as young as twelve weeks through twelfth grade. But we are so much more than this.

During the 2024-2025 school year, RMP is driving after five big goals:

  • 85% Staff Retention
  • 100% of campuses going green & ECE-2nd grade students growing an average of 1.25 years in math and reading
  • 100% of seniors accepted into college
  • 40% of 3rd-8th grade students meet their Accelerated Reader millionaire goal
  • RMP meets its network enrollment goal

Each member of the organization plays a part in achieving these goals. School-based staff members will work towards 2 or 3 metrics aligned to their individual roles AND the Big 5. These metrics vary by position and are subject to change for the 2025-2026 school year.

As a 12th Grade Teacher & College Counselor, you will be held accountable for some of these goals.

Role Mission

As the Junior and Senior Seminar teachers at our high school, our mission is to empower students with the knowledge, skills, and guidance necessary to navigate their academic journeys and prepare them for college success beyond graduation. We strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students can explore their interests, set meaningful goals, and develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for lifelong learning. This role will support the Director of College Access with the entire college application process for students and families.

In this role, you will…

  • Use our high-quality curriculum and data systems to drive outstanding scholar growth and proficiency while proactively collecting data on student performance
  • Consistently collect, enter, and analyze academic data to provide targeted instruction and interventions that promote a culture of learning
  • Build a strong classroom culture where scholars can learn, grow and thrive through predictable routines, structures, proactive and restorative practices
  • Cultivate a strong, healthy working environment for co-workers that is focused on kids-first
  • Work collaboratively and communicate regularly with teammates, parents, and administrators
  • Regularly attend professional development sessions meant to provide direct feedback and coaching to help grow you in your instructional practice
  • Thoroughly plan, prep, and internalize lessons in order to maximize class time and student learning
  • Model our PEAK values of Perseverance, Excellence, Adventure, and Kindness
  • Demonstrate a hungry, humble, smart, and results-oriented mindset and a “by any means necessary” spirit when it comes to driving our big five goals
  • Assist with arrival and dismissal duties, and other school community tasks
  • Work and collaborate with Special Education teachers and other school support staff to ensure all students are receiving grade-level appropriate content and academic support

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3 years of full-time K-12 lead teaching experience that involves literacy instruction (ex., homeroom teacher, literacy teacher, interventionist, or special education teacher)
  • During the application process, you will need to provide student data demonstrating that you have led students to 1.5 years of reading growth in a single school year and/or high levels of mastery on state tests or standards-based assessments.
  • Be able to provide an official transcript demonstrating graduation from an undergraduate institution
  • CO teaching license OR Out-of-State teaching license with the ability to transfer licensure to CO
  • Pass a background check & demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States

Preferred:

  • Experience implementing a literacy intervention program with fidelity (e.g. Wilson Reading system)
  • Specialized training in research-based literacy intervention (e.g. Orton-Gillingham)
  • Experience with tiered instruction as a dedicated literacy interventionist in an elementary school
  • Reading specialist endorsement, Special Education endorsement, and/or CLDE endorsement on an active CO teaching license
  • Completion of CDE READ Act training and/or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) 45 contact hours
  • Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse students and families
  • Bilingual English & Spanish or English & Arabic

Salary

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a salary range of $60,000 - $89,000.
