Location: We are seeking a Manufacturing Accountant to join our Finance team here at ROCKWOOL UK. This position is based at our offices in Pencoed, Bridgend.

Your Future Team:
Reporting into the Head of Business Controlling, This role will play a crucial part in managing the financial aspects of our production processes. You will be responsible for analysing manufacturing costs, providing insightful reports and ensuring accuracy of our inventory and cost accounting system.
What you will be doing:
- Developing, maintaining and analysing standard costs, tracking variances between standard and actual production costs and prepare detailed variance analysis reports
- Overseeing the accurate valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods inventories, managing cycle counts and physical inventory processes and reconcile inventory balances
- Analysing production costs, including direct labour, direct materials and overheads to identify trends, inefficiencies and opportunities for cost improvements
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial information to trial balance, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards
- Participating in the development of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for manufacturing costs and operational expenses
- Supporting the month-end closing process by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts and analysing inventory and cost of goods sold
- Assisting in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls related to inventory and cost-accounting processes
- Providing necessary information and support for internal and external audits
- Identifying and recommending opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements within the manufacturing operations
- Tracking and monitoring capital projects from initiation to completion, ensuring costs are accurately recorded and allocated
- Participating in the upcoming ERP system upgrade to ensure business requirements are effectively integrated
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in excel or other data analysis tools
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Detailed-oriented with a focus on accuracy
- Proven experience as a manufacturing accountant or similar analytical role
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation methods and manufacturing processes
