Job Description
Our Global Portfolio Engineering (GPE) team is hiring a GPE Cloud and Edge Infrastructure Engineer.
In this role you will design, implement, and operate secure, scalable cloud‑to‑edge platforms that support multiple regional and business teams.
You provide deep technical leadership in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, container platforms, edge‑to‑cloud integration, and enterprise security practices.
A successful candidate for this role is a hands‑on engineer with the ability to standardize architecture patterns, enhance system reliability and security, and collaborate effectively with automation engineering teams to deliver scalable, repeatable, and production‑ready solutions.
You will report to the Director, Technical Sales Support and have a hybrid schedule working in Bologna, Italy.
Candidates based outside of Bologna will be expected to travel to Bologna on a regular basis to support activities related to our Customer Briefing Center.

- Your Responsibilities
- Design and operate cloud‑native infrastructure platforms that support distributed edge and centralized cloud workloads.
- Develop Kubernetes‑based runtime environments for resilient, secure, and observable operations.
- Establish platform standards for networking, identity, access control, secrets management, and workload security.
- Architect and maintain CI/CD and Git Ops deployment workflows for infrastructure and platform services.
- Collaborate with automation engineering teams to integrate controls, deployment pipelines, and operational guardrails.
- Lead containerization strategy for platform services, including image lifecycle, vulnerability management, and runtime hardening.
- Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response practices for cloud and edge environments.
- Create reusable reference architectures, templates, and operational runbooks for global adoption.
- Support regional teams with technical guidance, design reviews, and production readiness assessments.
- Contribute to long‑term platform evolution, including multi‑cloud readiness and future architecture expansion.
- The Essentials - You Will Have
- 7+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or cloud operations.
- Expertise in at least one major cloud platform (Azure strongly preferred).
- Production experience with Kubernetes, including cluster operations, upgrades, networking, and security controls.
- Knowledge of containers and orchestration in enterprise environments.
- Experience designing edge‑to‑cloud integration patterns and hybrid connectivity.
- Experience with zero‑trust security principles, IAM/RBAC, secrets management, and policy enforcement.
- Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code (for example Terraform or Bicep).
- Experience with CI/CD tooling and Git Ops workflows.
- The Preferred - You Might Also Have
- Experience with multiple cloud providers (for example AWS and/or GCP) in addition to Azure.
- Experience with service mesh, API gateway, and workload isolation strategies.
- Experience implementing platform observability with metrics, traces, and centralized logging.
- Familiarity with industrial, manufacturing, or distributed operational environments.
- Certifications in cloud, Kubernetes, or security disciplines.
