Job Description

The Mechanical Continuation Engineering will participate as a member of a cross‑functional Engineering team supporting industrial products throughout their lifecycle.

You will sustain existing products through design improvements, production support, root cause investigations and cost reduction initiatives.

Products include mechanical switches, sensors, safety devices and other electromechanical assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Functional Knowledgeable on NEMA/Ingress Protection standards for industrial electro‑mechanical devices.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Pro/Engineer (Creo) 3D Solid Modeling CAD system.
  • Needs to provide the necessary "hands‑on" expertise to resolve complex, cross‑functional issues regarding product functionality, assembly methods and product qualification while meeting product cost targets and schedules.
  • Can create innovative designs suitable for high‑volume production.
  • Can define and supervise engineering tests to qualify product designs.
  • Job content includes some detailed documentation tasks and product maintenance.
  • Familiar with SAP, Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, and Design for Six Sigma tools.
  • An understanding of multi‑action tooling fabrication techniques to support complex plastic injection molded or die cast component design.
  • A good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing standards, modern machining techniques and processes, and rapid prototyping methods.

  • Must be capable of defining and supervising engineering tests to qualify designs.
  • Needs to provide the necessary "hands‑on" expertise to resolve complex, cross‑functional issues regarding product functionality, assembly methods and product qualification while meeting product cost targets and schedules.

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required.

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of recent product design experience developing products for use in industrial, consumer or medical applications.
  • Prior experience designing electrical connectors, optical/inductive sensors, mechanical sensors and knowledge of UL, CSA and IEC standards.
  • Must be proficient in the use of a 3D Solid Modeling CAD systems and Structural/Thermal analysis tools.
  • Must be capable of creating innovative designs suitable for high volume production.
  • Job content includes some detailed documentation tasks and product maintenance.
  • Familiar with SAP, Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, and Design for Six Sigma tools.
  • An understanding of materials science relating to thermoplastic molding and plastic part design.
  • An understanding of multi‑action tooling fabrication techniques to support complex plastic injection molded or die cast component design.
  • An understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing standards, modern machining techniques and processes, and rapid prototyping methods.

This position is part of a job family. Experience will be the determining factor for position level and compensation.

For this role, the Base Salary Compensation is 105,680.00 - 158,520.00 USD USD Annual with an annual target bonus of 5% of base salary.
