Rockstar North is on the lookout for a Tools Programmer who is passionate about supporting and further developing a world class audio tool suite. This is a full-time, permanent and in-office position based in Rockstar’s state-of-the-art game development studio in Edinburgh, Scotland.
WHAT WE DO
The Rockstar Audio Programming team is responsible for the technology that powers the sound effects, music and dialogue in our games. We’re committed to creating incredibly immersive interactive audio, pushing the sonic boundaries of what’s possible in our medium.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain an in-house audio toolset, which supports the creation and implementation of audio assets found in-game.
- Closely collaborate with other members of the Audio team and the wider Rockstar Tools team.
- Maintain awareness of relevant technologies, modern UI standards, and drive their adoption within the toolset.
- Balance meeting short-term user needs with long-term development of the audio tool suite; identify opportunities to optimise user workflows.
REQUIREMENTS
- A degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a mixed-discipline team.
- Ability to work within a schedule and deliver effectively to deadlines.
PLUSES
- An interest in games and interactive sound/music.
- Familiarity with commercial audio content creation software.
- Experience of intuitive user interface design and implementation for complex data.
- Knowledge of audio synthesis and DSP.
- C++ experience.
- WPF experience.
