Field Technician I (Network, Telecom, Server, Desktop)
- Provide highly available voice and data networks through installation, maintenance, and support under the guidance of a Network Analyst or VP of Telecom & Computer Network Systems.
- Monitor network availability continuously using management tools and address issues promptly.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction by properly provisioning technology infrastructure services and scheduling.
- Responsibilities & Duties:
- Serve as the primary contact for telecommunications system issues and support.
- Monitor network alerts and resolve problems swiftly to maintain availability.
- Collaborate with vendors like Avaya and support groups to isolate and replace defective network components.
- Develop technical skills through vendor interactions, configuration, and troubleshooting of network components, including third-level support.
- Participate in vendor meetings to review issues and project updates, with documented agendas and minutes.
- Use NMS, Kiwi alerts, and reporting tools for proactive notification of network events.
- Maintain and verify monthly FCICIA procedures, including reports on network availability and testing.
- Plan and implement telecommunications adds, moves, and changes.
Requirements:
- Understanding of networking and telecommunications concepts, including circuit offerings like Sonet, ATM, Frame Relay, DDS, T1/T3, TCP/IP, and routing.
- Ability to collaborate with senior analysts on complex problems and solutions.
- Knowledge of WAN architecture and telephony vendor support principles.
- 1 to 3 years of network experience, preferably in banking.
- Familiarity with network management and automation concepts.
- Hands-on experience configuring voice and data equipment such as routers, switches, media servers, and connectivity devices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and VISIO.
- Willingness to travel, including extended days if necessary.
- Awareness of compliance issues and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
- Ability to serve as a backup to Network, Telecom, Desktop Support, and Server Analysts.
