Head of Business Development

Based: Central London

Our client is a leading specialist, led by design and focussed on adding value, delivering creative solutions, products and services to many of London’s largest and most prestigious offices/companies. Additionally, they supply services to major London based events, product launches and media and film for short term, high impact installations. They are a well-established niche player, allowing them to be agile, entrepreneurial and trailblazing, focused on the delivery of excellence to the customer.

They’re privately owned, with a dynamic and forward-thinking approach to culture and leadership. They have an excellent team of loyal and committed employees and, due to their significant growth ambitions, they now seek to further expand with the appointment of a new Head of Business Development, to lead the sales and business development team and to play a key role within the Senior Leadership Team.

In line with growth targets, they seek to appoint a proven Sales leadership pro, to build upon this already successful operation, taking full ownership of the development of new business. You will have full responsibility for all areas of sales, leadership of the sales team, the processes and for its ongoing growth and development. As part of the senior leadership, you will play an active role in shaping the future of the business.

This is a creative environment – your team will not only be responsible to winning and closing the business but also for meeting perspective customers, taking the brief and, with the support of the design team, for conceiving and designing the winning solution. The majority of new customers are generated via marketing, the website, repeat business, referrals or through their long-standing presence at the top of their market. They’re also regular attendees at trade shows and relevant exhibitions, in which you will play a large part. In addition, they’re organising and hosting a large exhibition of their own, to which perspective customers, partners and introducers will be invited. They are enjoying a high volume of active enquiries.

Ideally you will have proven experience in

  • Building and leading a capable sales team – hiring, training, mentoring and motivating
  • Setting targets and supporting your team to achieving or exceed them
  • Managing and developing sales processes
  • Working collaboratively at a senior level with other internal functions, design, operations, finance etc
  • Building and maintaining relationships with customers and third-party introducers/partners
  • Pitching, tendering and winning business from large corporate companies
  • Management of sales support technology (CRM etc)
  • Ideally you will have experience of the above gained within a service-based / creative industry – interior design, interior landscaping, events management, office furniture/lighting etc
