Picture yourself designing digital products that make a positive impact, alongside a passionate, innovative, and award-winning team who are genuinely valued. At Rocketmakers, we design and build brilliant software for startups, scaleups, and corporate innovators. Our crew bring curiosity, craft, and individuality to their work, creating a culture of collaboration, experimentation, and continuous learning. Together, we’ve built a place where people genuinely enjoy working and feel comfortable being their true selves.
We’re looking for a mid-level UX / UI Designer to join our team in Bath. You’ll work across a range of digital projects and clients, from early-stage discovery and concept development through to polished, production-ready interfaces. You’ll collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and project managers in an agile environment, helping shape experiences that are both user-centred and commercially effective. At Rocketmakers, we meet our clients wherever they are in their product journey – whether that’s defining a problem, validating an idea, or evolving a mature product – and you’ll play a key role in guiding design decisions along the way. You’ll help clients clarify their goals, facilitate discovery workshops, and apply a flexible UX process that adapts to different budgets, timelines, and levels of complexity. Alongside client work, you’ll also contribute to internal initiatives such as refining our design processes, supporting proposals, and sharing knowledge across the team.
What You’ll Do:
- Design intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging user experiences and interfaces for web and mobile products.
- Lead and contribute to discovery phases, including planning and facilitating workshops with clients and internal teams.
- Apply a flexible UX process tailored to different project scopes, budgets, and timescales.
- Translate user needs, business goals, and technical constraints into clear design solutions.
- Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
- Work closely with developers to ensure designs are feasible, well-implemented, and maintain quality through delivery.
- Communicate design thinking clearly to clients, responding confidently to feedback and evolving requirements.
- Support internal initiatives such as proposal writing, process improvement, and documentation.
Requirements:
- Has at least 2+ years’ experience working as a UX / UI Designer, ideally within a software or digital agency environment.
- Is comfortable working across multiple projects and clients.
- Has strong UI design skills, with a good eye for layout, typography, and visual consistency.
- Can adapt their UX approach pragmatically to suit different constraints without losing focus on user needs.
- Has experience facilitating or contributing to discovery workshops.
- Communicates clearly and confidently with both clients and development teams.
- Is collaborative, proactive, and keen to keep learning and improving their craft.
- Takes ownership of their work and thrives in a transparent, supportive environment.
Working Hours:
This is a full-time permanent role. Our current working model is flexible, with at least one day per week spent in our Bath office. We are specifically looking for a Bristol / Bath / South West–based candidate who want to be in the office collaborating with the rest of the team.
Benefits:
The best bit about Rocketmakers is the crew (we know everyone says that, but we genuinely mean it!). We’ve been building awesome digital products for over 18 years and are proud of the culture and people we’ve created. Everyone is trusted for their expertise and encouraged to support others in delivering successful projects. We work in small, multi-skilled teams, always aiming to be as agile and thoughtful as possible. We invest in our people’s health, wellbeing, and development, and host a wide range of social activities so there’s something for everyone who wants to get involved. Rocketmakers is owned and run by Richard and Keith, both from software engineering and architecture backgrounds, who built the company to be the kind of place they’d want to work. Our HQ is just 5–10 minutes from the train station in central Bath. We’re actively involved in the Bristol and Bath tech community, sponsor local organisations and events, and work with schools to encourage the next generation of technologists from all backgrounds. You can find more information about our benefits on our website.
We believe diversity makes us stronger, and Rocketmakers is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified people regardless of race, sex, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or age.
