Part of the Rocket Science Group, Atomic Theory comprises a multinational team of seasoned AAA veterans with roots extending from Blizzard, PUBG, Epic, and Unity. We’re looking for a Software Engineer who is eager to continue developing their skills in a professional environment to join our team in Summer 2026 for 1 year. In this role, you’ll build upon your software engineering skills and will get the chance to implement technical solutions that help our partners’ games delight players around the world. You’ll have the opportunity to work with and learn from industry veterans across projects and gain exposure to both proprietary and commercially available game engines and various industry standard workflows.
Our ideal candidate is someone who is currently enrolled in University and has a passion for writing code and for video games themselves. We’re looking for someone who has a solid initial base in at least one programming language, has solid communication skills, works well in a team environment, and is open to learning new workflows and programming languages.
What You’ll Do:
- Feature Development: Implement and extend gameplay features and systems.
- Debugging: Learn to effectively resolve issues in a team environment.
- Technical Design: Bring creative ideas and solutions to life with collaborative software engineering processes.
- Code Review: Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and set an example of quality code implementation that adheres to coding standards.
What we Value:
- Enrolled in a Software Engineering or Game Engineering degree (having completed Year 2 by June 2026).
- Solid foundation with C++ and/or C#.
- Solid maths skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external teams.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the drive to solve problems and debug programs.
- Strong collaborative skills with a willingness to accept and respond to critical feedback.
- Capacity for self-motivation, the ability to work independently, a willingness to ask questions, and a strong work ethic.
- Passion for video games and knowledge of current industry trends.
What You May Also Have:
- Experience with multiple programming languages.
- Experience with personal or university projects in Unreal, Unity, or Godot.
- Experience designing and implementing features and projects.
