About Us: At Rocket Science Group, we believe great games are built on great decisions, and great decisions are built on great data. Terminal Velocity is our consultancy studio dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in interactive entertainment. We partner with clients across the industry, embedding our analysts into projects where they can make a real difference, which means no two engagements look quite the same.
The Role: You will work across a range of client engagements, sometimes leading the analytical strategy, sometimes rolling up your sleeves to get deep into the data. You will be equally comfortable presenting findings to a C-suite audience and writing complex SQL from scratch. What stays consistent across every project is your ability to build trust with stakeholders, communicate clearly, and deliver work that genuinely moves the needle.
What You’ll Do:
- Own end-to-end analysis projects, from framing the question to presenting findings to senior stakeholders, including those with no technical background.
- Act as a trusted analytical partner to client teams, building strong relationships and translating complex data into clear, compelling narratives.
- Write clean, efficient SQL and Python to wrangle large, complex datasets, and be ready to go deep technically when a project demands it.
- Build clear, impactful dashboards and visualisations in technologies like Tableau and Power BI that empower teams to self-serve insights.
- Flex your approach depending on project needs; some engagements will call for strategic advisory work, others for hands-on technical delivery.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience in a data analyst or similar role, ideally in gaming, consumer tech, or a consultancy environment.
- Confident working with technologies like SQL and Python across varied project environments.
- Experience working with cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- A track record of building impactful dashboards in technologies like Tableau and Power BI.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills — you’re as comfortable presenting to a non-technical executive as you are collaborating with an engineering team.
- The adaptability to shift between strategic and hands-on technical work depending on what a project needs.
- Strong communication skills — you can make complex analysis feel simple and relevant to any audience.
- Genuine curiosity, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for games (even better if you play them!).
What We Can Offer:
- Hybrid Working Arrangement: Our office in Cardiff is located right in City Centre, just a couple minutes away from the Cardiff Central Train Station! As a member of our team, you’ll have the flexibility to work at home and collaborate with your fellow engineers in person.
- Competitive Salary and Benefits Package: Your health and wellbeing is important to us, so we offer a variety of benefits including:
- Private Pension via Salary Sacrifice.
- Optional Private Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage.
- Annual Leave, Plus Bank Holidays and Winter Break Office Closure.
- Weekly Team Lunches.
- Snacks, Including the Good (Yorkshire) Tea.
- Fully Equipped Team Lounge, Including our Favourite Consoles and Games.
- A supportive and creative working environment made up of talented and friendly people, as well as the opportunity to work on some pretty cool games and projects.
A Friendly Note from the Recruitment Team: Let us do the work for you: Even if your profile isn't an exact match for all of the qualifications listed above, we still want you to apply. Our team members come from a variety of different industries, not all of which are immediately relevant to game or software development, and we welcome all candidates of similarly varied backgrounds, communities, and identities. Rocket Science is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing a worry-free workplace void of discrimination or harassment.
