Main purpose of the role:
To oversee and manage warehouse operations and the logistics team, ensuring the efficient preparation, loading, transportation, and unloading of all equipment, supplies, and food essential to the success of Rocket Food and its associated brands. This includes managing the Made by Rocket contracts and their team of driver porters, coordinating Pocket Rocket deliveries, and overseeing a roster of drivers as required. Additionally, you will work with the Motorsport team to handle their transport and logistics needs, particularly during UK-based events.
This role encompasses various responsibilities, including warehouse logistics management, team leadership, departmental budget oversight, and close collaboration with other departments to ensure operational excellence.
What you will do:
Operations & Logistics:
- Oversee and manage the event logistics team, ensuring all necessary food, drink, and equipment are delivered on time to every event.
- Manage and oversee the ordering, receiving, and recording of goods between events and the warehouse.
- Source, establish, and maintain strong relationships with consumables suppliers to ensure the company receives value for money and reliable support for business needs.
- Ensure the timely and efficient loading and unloading of food, drinks, decorations, and consumables, maintaining the highest quality standards, and meeting agreed deadlines.
- Attend events to oversee logistics procedures and implement improvements where necessary.
- Prioritize event logistics during peak trading months by executing effective time management strategies.
- Oversee and manage the logistics team’s rota and labour costs, including the recruitment and coordination of temporary/agency staff, to ensure efficient operations within budget.
- Build, maintain, and manage a pool of casual porters and drivers to support the logistics team during busy periods.
- Oversee the management of company vehicles, ensuring compliance with legislation, completion of necessary paperwork, and adherence to company policies. Verify that all employees operating company vehicles possess the correct, clean driving licenses, reporting details to your manager as required.
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure the premises, facilities, surrounding areas, and access routes are clean, tidy, and safe always.
- Manage and monitor maintenance needs for company premises, vehicles, and equipment, providing a monthly status report on outstanding tasks to the Business Operations Director.
General Tasks:
- Take responsibility for company-wide logistics and warehouse management.
- Report for duty punctually, wearing the correct uniform and protective clothing while adhering to specified grooming standards.
- Always maintain a clean and organised work environment.
- Pack, load, and deliver equipment and food to various events as required.
- Assist your line manager with the receiving and recording of all warehouse goods in and out.
- Ensure the warehouse and surrounding areas always remain clean and safe.
- Uphold a high standard of personal appearance, reflecting the Rocket image professionally.
- Maintain positive working relationships and cooperation with colleagues and other departments.
- Serve as a porter at events, as directed by your line manager.
- Respond to emergencies or urgent issues promptly and handle their consequences appropriately.
- Carry out any reasonable requests made by your manager.
