The Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, support, and performance management of field-based Remedial team, within the Environmental Division.
Reporting to the Head of Remedials, the role is accountable for ensuring work is delivered safely, compliantly, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while supporting operational performance, customer satisfaction, and commercial objectives.
Acting as the first line of operational management, the Supervisor will provide coaching, technical guidance, quality assurance, competency management, and operational support to the remedial team.
The role ensures employees have the training, resources, equipment, and support required to deliver services effectively whilst maintaining compliance with company procedures and industry standards.
Team Leadership & Performance Management:
- Directly supervise the remedial team across the region.
- Act as the first point of contact for operational, technical, people, and performance-related matters. Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, and development discussions.
- Drive accountability, productivity, utilisation, and service quality across the team.
- Support performance improvement activities and employee development plans.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, retention, and succession planning activities.
Operational Delivery & Service Performance:
- Support the achievement of operational revenue, productivity, utilisation, and performance targets.
- Ensure contractual obligations, customer requirements, and SLA commitments are consistently achieved.
- Monitor operational performance and take corrective action where required.
- Support contract mobilisation, project delivery, and operational planning activities.
- Assist with larger projects and operational programmes where required.
- Provide practical support to operational teams and undertake site-based activities when required.
Training, Competency & Development:
- Coordinate employee training and ongoing development programmes. Maintain training records, competency matrices, and development plans.
- Conduct competency assessments and site-based observations.
- Ensure employees maintain the skills, qualifications, and competencies required for their role.
- Identify skills gaps and work with management to address development needs.
- Support future talent development and succession planning initiatives.
Quality Assurance & Operational Compliance:
- Conduct quality control inspections and operational audits.
- Monitor work quality and ensure company standards are achieved consistently.
- Use quality findings to identify opportunities for improvement and increased first-time-fix performance.
- Ensure operational processes and procedures are followed.
- Support internal and external audit programmes.
- Promote best practice and operational consistency across all activities.
Onboarding & Employee Support:
- Manage the onboarding process for new starters.
- Coordinate inductions, equipment allocation, vehicle assignments, toolbox talks, and compliance requirements.
- Ensure new employees are integrated successfully into the business.
- Support employee wellbeing, engagement, and retention activities.
- Promote a positive and inclusive team environment.
Investigations & Employee Relations:
- Conduct low-level absence, conduct, and operational investigations.
- Support employee relations and performance management processes.
- Maintain accurate records and investigation documentation.
- Implement and monitor corrective actions where required.
- Escalate more complex matters appropriately.
Resource, Fleet & Stock Management:
- Support stock control and operational resource management. Monitor equipment, tools, materials, and PPE requirements.
- Raise purchase orders and support stock replenishment activities. Support fleet compliance activities, vehicle audits, and operational readiness.
- Ensure teams have the resources required to deliver services effectively.
- Monitor operational asset utilisation and condition.
Health, Safety, Environment & Compliance:
- Promote a positive culture of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
- Ensure employees work in accordance with risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
- Conduct workplace inspections, site audits, vehicle audits, and compliance checks.
- Identify, investigate, and escalate hazards, near misses, and compliance concerns.
- Support incident investigations and corrective action plans.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and relevant legislation.
Skills & Experience:
Essential Experience:
- Experience working within Water Hygiene Remedials, Water Treatment, Environmental Compliance, Facilities Management, or a similar field-service environment. Experience leading, coaching, mentoring, or supervising operational teams.
- Experience carrying out quality inspections and compliance checks. Experience supporting operational service delivery and project activities. Experience working within a compliance-led environment.
Essential Knowledge:
- Understanding of ACOP L8.Understanding of HSG274 Parts 1, 2 and 3
- Knowledge of remedial plumbing works and water hygiene compliance requirements
