We are a purpose-built care home that cares for up to 60 individuals with different levels of care needs. We are looking for an individual to join our Nursing Team to promote and supervise the standards of personal and nursing care by ensuring that the policies and procedures promoting care are adhered to. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care plans. These are to be linked directly with staff education and training. To be responsible for the assessments of new service users and promotion of the unit with local professionals.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
- Current registration and PIN number with NMC.
- Knowledge of Community Care Act, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
- Prior experience in the care of the elderly and/or mentally ill.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Ability to assist in the management of an effective multi-disciplinary team and to be a team leader and player.
- Satisfactory enhanced DBS Check and where applicable a check against the DBS First List.

- Previous experience of working in a similar role with the relevant Client group.
- Willingness to undergo further extensive training to improve knowledge and care standards within the home.
Main Responsibilities
- To be accountable for management of service user care.
- To formulate plans of care and monitor overall standards.
- To ensure care plans are regularly evaluated and kept up to date.
- Provide support and leadership for staff and work as a member of the team.
- Supervise/carry out all nursing procedures to the standards adopted by the home as ‘good practice’.
- Maintain good/accurate written nursing care reports on all service users daily care as part of good communication with all grades of staff and professionals.
- Give staff training on a regular basis with emphasis on clients assessed individual needs and write up details in staff training records.
- To assist with NVQ training.
- Ensure that all team members are aware of any changes in care to be given to service users.
- Liaise with management team on all changes implemented.
- Ensure service users are regularly reviewed by the GP documenting and communicating any changes.
- Participate in staff training, induction programmes, staff appraisals and appropriate staff meetings as required.
- Be diligent in all aspects of health and safety policies and COSHH regulations and identify and record any problems.
- Participate in the implementation and maintenance of quality assurance policies and systems.
- Be responsible for drug ordering, stock maintenance and auditing in accordance with health authority regulations and internal policies.
- Administer effectively the medication of the service users.
- All staff are required to respect the confidentiality of all matters they might learn in the course of their employment and must respect the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998.
- Identifying service users symptoms, administering medication when it is within their scope of practise, offering alternative symptom-relieving treatments, and working with other professionals to maximise patients' comfort and families' understanding and adaptability.
