Hours Per Week: 40 hours
Schedule: 8 Hour Shifts, 8am-4:30pm, with One Weekend every 7-10 weeks

Position Summary: To provide for the nutritional care for all patients within the scope of responsibility and act as consultant to other health care professionals in determining the best nutritional care options for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Completes Nutritional Assessments for all patients that fall within our scope of responsibility.
- Provides oversight to dietetic technicians in providing patient care.
- Develops plan of care per clinical data, interview, diagnosis and treatment goals.
- Provides recommendations for formulations, rate and volume for all tube fed and TPN patients, per Nutrition Support policy.
- Attends or provides input into Nutrition Support Service rounds for all patients assigned, including QA data.
- Demonstrates competency in providing nutrition care to the patient population within our scope of responsibility (as applicable).
- Demonstrates an understanding of the regulatory requirements for nutrition care.
- Instructs patients/families on therapeutic/special diets and general good nutrition habits.
- Completes diet instructions for patients on complex diets such as diabetic or renal diets.
- Provides education to ElderONE Team Members responsible for supporting diet plan in center or at home.
- Monitors patient progress and follows up per policies and standards of practice.
- Documents in patient record all interventions provided by the Department per RGHS policies and standards.
- Maintains the highest level of customer service as outlined by departmental standards.
- Actively participates in team discussions, shares knowledge and experience; accepts new ideas; supports team consensus.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with the entire interdisciplinary team.
- Promotes the goals and standards of nutritional care at patient rounds, care conferences, hospital committees, pathway development, collaborative practice, etc.
- Oversees the implementation of diets, formulary supplements, calorie counts and snacks that are consistent with the patient’s medical condition and treatment goals, per department policy on Clinical Interventions.
- Utilizes DFM and/or established diet office procedures to ensure patients receive the appropriate foods based on preferences and prescriber orders.
- Keeps abreast of nutrition advances by participating in and contributing to in-service education.
- Remains current on laws/regulations regarding safe food handling, service and storage.
- Directs activities of Food Service Associates as needed.
- Communicates with vendors/sales reps on new product or repairs to equipment as needed.
- Participates in office/department procedures and committees as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Attributes:
- 1-3 years of experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, computer, and communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- For employees hired on or after April 1, 2022, Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or related field required.
- New Graduates: Official transcript from accredited school or letter emailed directly from the school’s registrar’s office confirming program completion will be accepted upon graduation.
- Primary source education verification required within 90 days of start date.
Required Licensure/Certification:
- Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) (either in place or received within 6 months of hire).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
PAY RANGE: $29.50 - $37.38
