SUMMARY
Performs all diagnostic exams, quality assurance procedures, the receipt, administration and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals, records all data on appropriate computerized information system.
ATTRIBUTES
- Bachelors degree in Nuclear Medicine or completion of certification program required.
- Two (2) years of experience preferred.
- ARRT and/or NMTCB Certification within three (3) months of hire.
- Certificate of Registration as a Radiologic Technologist limited to the practice of Nuclear Medicine within six (6) months of hire.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establishes safe and secure environment for patients.
- Performs PET/CT scans and administers related radiopharmaceuticals.
- Performs Glucometer QC and patient blood glucose testing.
- Obtains urine pregnancy test on appropriate patient population.
- Maintains Hot Lab and Hot Lab information system.
- Operates Rb-82 Infusion Cart System for quality control and dose administration for Cardiac PET imaging.
- Ensures that Nuclear and related CT imaging equipment is in optimal working condition.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine or completion of certificate program from the accredited school of Nuclear Medicine.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or obtained within 3 months of hire.
- ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT) Certification, or obtained within 6 months of hire.
- NYS License in Radiologic Technology in the area of Nuclear Medicine required or must hold NYS permit and obtain licensure within 6 months of hire.
- BLS/CPR.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience in PET or in general nuclear medicine.
- Strong computer and interpersonal/communication skills.
- Maintains required CE credits.
- Maintains annual glucometer use competency.
- Maintains annual urine pregnancy test competency.
- Maintains annual Rb-82 generator competency.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
