Location: Rochester General Hospital ED

Hours Per Week: 40 Hours

Schedule: Day/Evening and Evening/Night shifts (with every other weekend) available based on Unit Requirements

We are now accepting applications for the Rochester General Hospital Emergency Department (ED) Nurse Fellowship Program for August 2026 RN graduates.

The emergency department can be exciting and exhilarating. At Rochester Regional, we have some of the busiest emergency departments in the state, outside of New York City. Our ED fellowships, available only to recent nursing graduates, give you the opportunity to experience this fast-paced environment and determine if it’s right for you.

The Adult ED Fellowship at Rochester General Hospital features:

  • A cohort-based orientation
  • Emergency Department training, along with additional opportunities to develop your nursing skillset through time spent on Cardiac, Critical Care, and Medical-Surgical units
  • Weekly education sessions with RGH Adult ED Fellowship leaders

RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Care & Service: Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; performing various treatment procedures; providing physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervising assigned team members.

Planning & Communication: Develop and document individualized care plans customized for each patient’s unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed; maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans and progress.

Electronic Health Record (EHR) Management: Demonstrate proficient use of an EHR – including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication.

Compliance: Adhere to required department and system protocols, regulations (local, state, federal) and education requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse license in New York State
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
