Position Summary: Install, maintain and repair mechanical systems and associated equipment as directed by leadership. Work involves performance of minor mechanical tasks in maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of mechanical equipment. Routine maintenance, service, and repair work are performed with guidance and direction from other senior mechanics or other facilities leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gas system maintenance/repair
- Auto door maintenance/repair
- Bed maintenance/repair
- Plan, coordinate, schedule and oversee mechanical related work tasks
- Perform minor mechanical tasks such as wall, floor, ceiling repairs/construction, door repairs, mounting of equipment to building surfaces
- Make minor adjustments/repairs to HVAC systems, electrical lighting and outlet installations/services, plumbing faucet/fixture repairs, drain maintenance, patient care equipment maintenance
- Mechanical system rounds/inspections/monitoring, preventive maintenance tasks and other minor adjustments/repairs to mechanical systems as directed
- Assist the senior mechanics with more complex tasks such as pneumatic tube system maintenance/repair
- Troubleshoot minor equipment/system problems as assigned by the senior mechanic or other facilities leaders
- Provide mechanical troubleshooting support for all other trade fields as needed
- Utilise tools and equipment such as power drills, saws, mechanical sockets/wrenches, meters, test gauge analyzers, welding equipment if certified
- Read, interpret and utilise plans, schematic drawings, line diagrams, OEM manuals, specifications and work orders
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance for non-essential mechanical equipment/systems
- Perform mechanical project work and assist other trades in accomplishing scheduled projects
- Communicate assigned project task needs, progress and concerns with the customer and department leadership
- Perform tasks assigned by senior mechanic or other facilities leaders during utility/equipment shutdowns
- Assist department leadership in managing mechanical contractors work activities
- Maintain regulatory compliance with ICRA and PICRA safety plans, lockout tag-out, confined space, MSDS and all other regulatory programs
- Report all unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor
- Document all work performed and all training received (or given)
- Communicate with all departmental/interdepartmental staff as required
- Attend meetings and in-services as scheduled
- Keep all logs current
- Maintain expense budgets within established guidelines
- Maintain requisitions supplies and materials by following purchasing and department specific procedures
- Keep records of work and make reports
- Perform prevention maintenance work as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 yearsβ experience preferred
- Health care experience preferred
- Concentration in health care maintenance preferred
- Required Licensure/Certification Skills: None
Physical Requirements: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
Pay Range: $19.75 - $25.06
