Audiology Technicians function to assist the on-site Audiologist and/or Otolaryngologist in whatever manner is legal and appropriate to make them more efficient and more productive. These services include, but are not limited to:
- Providing supervised basic diagnostic services
- Giving our patients follow-up hearing aid care
- Assisting with various clerical tasks to increase productivity by reducing wait times and enhancing patient satisfaction
- Reducing costs by enabling assistants to perform tasks that do not require the skills of one of our Audiologists
Audiology Technicians perform basic diagnostic hearing evaluations on patients that have reached the age of 5 or more. These services are only to be provided under the direct and onsite supervision of the ordering Physician or in cases of non-Medicare patients under the supervision of the onsite Physician. After a patient is established with one of our Physicians or Audiologists, the Audiology Technicians can see hearing aid patients directly for hearing aid problems and maintenance. During these visits, the Audiology Technicians can perform clean and checks on hearing aids and change tubing.
