Rochester Airport is a historic and community-focused general aviation airfield in Kent, home to flying schools, private aircraft, and heritage aviation. We are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Assistant Airport Manager to support day-to-day operations and help shape the future of the airfield.
Responsibilities
- Supporting daily Airport Operations
- Assisting FISO (Flight Information Service Officer) and Duty Crew
- Upholding safety and compliance standards
- Engaging with tenants and visiting pilots
- Vehicle and equipment repair & maintenance including cleaning
- General airport and airfield assistance / maintenance
- General building maintenance
Progression Path
This role forms part of a planned succession pathway and is intended to develop into the Airport Manager position in due course, subject to performance, experience and business needs. The successful candidate will therefore be expected to bring relevant operational experience and a strong foundation on which to build.

Previous experience in aviation, airfield operations, or a similar operational environment is strongly preferred. A proactive mindset and genuine passion for aviation are equally important. Training will be provided in key areas.
Candidate profile
Weβre looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in an operational, aviation, safety, facilities, or technical environment
- Has a real interest in aviation and airfield operations
- Is dependable, hands-on, and confident working in an operational environment
- Has strong communication and people skills
- Is comfortable taking on responsibility and multitasking
- Can remain calm and professional in a dynamic operational environment
- Has the ability to maintain required paperwork and correspondence
- Must be physically capable of supporting hands-on operational duties across the airfield
Desirable (but not essential)
- Previous experience working at a GA airfield, airport, or aviation organisation
- Experience with aircraft handling, refuelling, or ground operations
- FISO certificate, experience in an ATC/FISO setting, or a willingness to complete FISO training
