The Opportunity: Work That Truly Matters
Are you looking for a regional field position where your engineering expertise directly transforms the healthcare landscape? With an ambitious pipeline of new equipment and test launches, you will join our Technical Services Group at an opportune time. You will be part of a cross-functional team of experts—including Applications and Information Solutions specialists—delivering a "whole-solution" approach to pathology laboratories across the NHS, Universities, and private providers.
The Position: Installation & Operational Excellence
Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will act as a critical link in the customer journey. Your role combines the precision of high-complex installations with the agility of proactive field service.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Implementation: Lead the installation, configuration, de-installation, and relocation of high-volume, critical analysers (Blood Science, Molecular, and Tissue diagnostics).
- Lifecycle Support: Deliver comprehensive technical support in a 7-day service model, including planned preventative maintenance and reactive troubleshooting to ensure operational excellence.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Apply a logical, process-driven mindset to resolve complex electro-mechanical and IT-integrated challenges on client sites.
- Customer Partnership: Act as a Roche Ambassador, enhancing our reputation through professional consultative services, technical reviews, and customer training.
- Process Innovation: Contribute to fault diagnosis and administrative reporting to build long-term reliability and efficiency in customer operations.
Who You Are
You are an ambitious, motivated, and resilient field service professional who thrives in high-paced environments. You are a "big-picture" thinker, able to see how technical milestones fit into the fabric of our organizational strategy.
Your Technical Profile:
- Qualified: HNC/HND level or above in Electronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. A relevant science subject is also desirable.
- Experienced: Proven track record in servicing and installing high-value capital equipment (ideally within biomedical engineering, automation, or aerospace).
- Specialist Insight: Preferably, you will have experience in automated laboratory pathology systems and associated data management systems.
- Analytically Minded: Robust problem-solving skills with the ability to work comfortably with technical, scientific, and numeric data.
- Customer-Centric: Confident and collaborative, with the ability to build trust-based relationships in a complex matrix environment.
Logistics:
Based predominantly in the North East (ideally near Newcastle/Gateshead), but substantial travel and overnight stays will be required across the UK and occasionally Ireland/Agency countries. A valid driver’s license and indefinite right to work in the UK are required.
