About us

Due to a recent internal promotion and retirement, we currently have two positions available in Financial Services. The first role reports to the Corporate Services Senior Accountant and offers support in Legal, Governance, and Coroners. The second vacancy is a full-time position split between three days with the children’s finance team (focusing on schools capital) and two days with the Commercial finance team.

About the role

As well as responsibility for the delivery of accurate and robust financial information to support the Council’s statutory and business critical financial functions, including but not limited to; Budget Setting, Budget Monitoring and Closure of Accounts.

The key duties are to

  • Attend meetings with relevant stakeholders, sharing both written and verbal financial insights tailored to each audience.
  • Assist the Head of Service and Senior Accountant in delivering a high-quality and efficient finance service.
  • Offer financial advice, training, and guidance to stakeholders throughout the Council.
  • Prepare, examine, and verify financial records to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Services to enhance forecasting and understand significant cost factors.
  • Support transformation and improvement initiatives within the service.

The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects staff to share this commitment.

The successful candidate may be required to attend evening and weeking meetings as per the needs of the service.
