Rochdale Borough Council is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Environmental Quality Supervisor to help lead the delivery of cleaner, safer and more attractive neighbourhoods across the borough. This is a key frontline leadership role with a strong focus on neighbourhood management, environmental enforcement, and waste and recycling, making a real difference at community level.

About the Role

You will be one of two supervisors leading a frontline team delivering environmental quality, enforcement, recycling and rights of way services, working closely with colleagues, partners and local communities. The role involves driving visible improvements in environmental standards, tackling environmental crime, and supporting residents to take pride in their neighbourhoods. You will manage frontline officers, and performance, ensure compliance with relevant legislation, and contribute to borough‑wide priorities through effective engagement and partnership working.

About You

  • Has experience in environmental enforcement, neighbourhood services and waste and recycling.
  • Can confidently lead and motivate teams in a frontline operational setting.
  • Understands and applies environmental legislation and regulatory powers.
  • Are proactive, delivery‑focused, organised and resilient.
  • Communicates effectively with residents, partners, key stakeholders and elected Members.

A full driving licence and willingness to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends, are essential.
