We are looking for a practical and committed individual to join our Library Services team, helping to keep our libraries running smoothly and efficiently. This is a key operational role that supports libraries across the Borough, ensuring books, resources and equipment are delivered safely and on time. You will be part of a service that plays a vital role in distributing stock to all Rochdale Borough Libraries which are at the core of learning, wellbeing and community life.

About the Role

As a Library Services Van Driver, you will be responsible for driving a council‑owned van to deliver library stock and other materials between sites. The role also involves manual handling, basic administration, and maintaining the condition and security of the vehicle and its contents. You will work closely with the Stock and Reader Development Manager and other bibliographical services staff to ensure deliveries run efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a council‑owned van to deliver library stock and other materials between sites.
  • Perform manual handling tasks and basic administration related to deliveries.
  • Maintain the condition and security of the vehicle and its contents.
  • Work closely with the Stock and Reader Development Manager and other bibliographical services staff to ensure deliveries run efficiently and safely.
