Rochdale Borough Council is looking for an experienced and motivated Legal Officer to join our busy and highly respected Litigation Team, based at the award-winning Number One Riverside in the heart of Rochdale town centre. This is a role where your expertise truly matters. You’ll handle a varied and interesting caseload covering civil and criminal litigation prosecutions, licensing, employment and debt recovery, managing cases from initial instruction through to advocacy in Courts and Tribunals.
You’ll also advise senior officers and Members, attend meetings and committees, draft legal documents and negotiate outcomes that protect the Council and the wider community. We’re looking for someone with a CILEX Level 3 (or equivalent), a Law Degree or substantial relevant experience, who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be organised, adaptable and confident working to tight court deadlines, while being a supportive and flexible team player. Local government experience is desirable but we welcome applications from private practice and public sector lawyers with the right skills and mindset.
