Doors are opening in Rochdale. Come join us on our journey! Do you have what it takes to become an exceptional part of a Local Authority that wants to make a real difference to the lives of the children and young people that we care for?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and proactive individual to take on the role as an Assistant Manager, to work in one of our established homes for children and young people with social and emotional needs and difficulties. The children and young people in all our homes need care, love, nurture and support, to help them work through the difficulties they may have experienced or are currently experiencing, and to help enhance their current and future lives.

The children and young people need a committed and dependable Assistant Manager, who will go above and beyond to make them feel safe and secure, and who will promote their emotional health and wellbeing. We are looking for someone who will be a positive and supportive role model for both our children and young people, and the team of carers at the home.

In support of the team, you will also help to provide regular and effective supervision, including a 6 monthly ‘Delve’ Appraisal. In the role of Assistant Manager, you will also help to monitor, review and audit the systems and processes in the home, to ensure compliance with Ofsted and be confident that the home is operating within the framework of the Children Act, Working Together to Safeguard 2026 and the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards 2015. There is also an expectation that you will deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager.

All our homes are “Good”, with a real ambition for all of them to be “Outstanding”. You will be part of an encouraging and supportive management team, where there are real opportunities for your personal and professional development. Our training offer in Rochdale is second to none, including you completing the Therapeutic Parenting with PACE training programme, which is the foundation of our ‘Model of Care’ and ‘Practice’ across all our homes for both the care and support of the children and young people and also the carers too.

We want our Assistant Managers to be our future Registered Managers, and we will support you to achieve this. You must be over 21 years of age and have at least 2 years’ experience working with Children and Young People. You must be qualified to NVQ/Diploma Level 3 Working with Children and Young People or equivalent and preferably hold a Level 5 in Leadership & Management, but don’t worry if you don’t hold a Level 5, as we will support you to complete this as part of your professional development.

Part of the recruitment process will involve an Interview/Activity with our cared for children and young people. Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced DBS including a barred list check child workforce. It is a condition of this role that the post holder must subscribe to, and remain continuously registered with, the DBS Update Service for the duration of their employment in this position. The cost of the annual subscription may be claimed back through the Council's expenses process. Casual User Car Allowance is payable.

The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects staff to share this commitment.
